He can’t win without superior talent, it’s obvious and he knows it. NIL and the portal have leveled off the talent gap and he’s terrified.

Bingo, I wouldn't say he's just an average coach, but he has limitations. It would be scary if Bama was stupid enough to let him go because A&M might backup dumptruck loads of money on his lawn, and they got the Boosters to buy the semi pro team he needs to beat everyone else...The only problem is there school is located in a wasteland so he might tell them thanks/ but no thanks...

I think he will just step away altogether honestly and retire from coaching period as the head coach of BAMA. Maybe not this year or next but in the next 4 years. Most successful coaches are done after 12 to 15 years anyway, and he's pretty much exceeded that..
