Yeah, somehow the Bs are up 2-1. I was thinking they kind of need to get this one as they are sharp from last series and will get fatigued soon after what they just went through.

I wonder how long they can go after being so up and down in a 7 game series, but they seem energetic right now. That too many men penalty is the kind of mental error I wouldn't be surprised to see more of as this series goes on.

Kiva looked like a new man in round one. As did Wood, Parise, Middlestadt, Trenin et al.

The emergence of Kivi and Trenin really made the Avalanche a four line scoring threat, assuming they can keep it up. You knew what you were getting with Wood, Parise, and Mittelstadt. All have played relatively well at times, even if not lighting the lamp or showing up on the box score with a point.

Kivi makes that Wood - Colton - Kivi line absolutely dangerous. You know what you're getting with Duhaime and Cogs, but if Trenin can keep showing himself as the fourth line mini-Val - Colorado just needs a good Georgie to win it all.

I haven't verified this stat but I saw someone post it on another forum. In the cap era, teams coming off of Game 7 OT playing against a team that won their series in 5 or less, the team coming off Game 7 OT is undefeated in the opening game.

So it's the classic rest vs rust argument. History seems to side with rust if that stat is accurate.

Stats aside, I was talking about how terribly the Bruins played for large portions of the 1st Round. They dug it out in the end, but looked like dogshit for extended periods against Toronto. Like they just didn't care. Even if they win this game, I don't see Boston having the intestinal fortitude to do that again. Florida would have to implode.
The current schedule of having Rd 2 games starting before other Rd 1 series games are still being played seems kinda messed up. Some teams getting the extra rest/rust while other teams get on the ice doesn't seem like it's an even playing field.

Can't ask for a better out-of-the-box play than that turnover leading to a breakaway chance

Beautiful, patient goal there even if it should have been a dead play after the high stick
