Wife and I ran into Jimmy Johnson at his restaurant in Key Largo. He was in there just momentarily to grab some food and leave…..wearing shorts and very relaxed.

We were wearing LSU Tiger colors and I walked up and said I was a fan. He could not have been nicer to both of us! Took a picture with us and wished us luck for the season. Said Coach O used to work for him.

His good luck worked. It was summer of 2019.

For sure. I was thoroughly shocked. It just goes to show you, sometimes we all need a friend to shoot the shite with.
I've heard stories from people who ran into him at bars in Birmingham when he was trying to play pro baseball. Not good. After that, the nice people at a Biloxi casino go on and on, about how he treated the staff.

On the other hand, I've heard numerous stories about Shaq and Chuck that are just the opposite. I'd love to have the chance to hang out with Barkley!

Shaq is awesome. Chuck and MJ are no longer friends. I’m sure over bets.

I was in Nashville for a UF-Vandy game with my wife (no pics) and a college buddy in the early 90’s at a restaurant outside of the stadium. We were feeling no pain and in walks George Lindsay (aka Goober) wearing a Mayberry letterman jacket and a couple of hot chicks on each arm. He seemed as hammered as we were, but was very nice as we were yelling “Hey Goob” at him. He stopped at the table and said hello and we got pictures with him.

Me personally, I once said hello to Keith Carradine at a hotel and he looked at me like I was the scum of the earth. I didn’t even ask for an autograph. I asked what brought him to Shreveport. I guess that was very offensive. This was probably 30 years ago.

I'll go opposite first. Wife (no pics) ran into Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie years ago at Le Jouet toy store on Airline in Metairie. They could not have been nicer.

Know a lady ride in the elevator with her at Canal place. Angelina gets in and the lady strikes up a conversation, asks how the kids are, how her holidays went etc. Angelina was nice but clearly a little weirder out. Lady and her husband get off the w lavatory and he’s like “wtf are you doing?” His wife recognized Angelina but couldn’t place her, thought she knew her from school/kids activities.

Long list spanning several decades, but highlights —

MJ — met at a charity golf tourney in NC. Total a$$hole

Barkley and Patrick Ewing — met in Miami Beach in the late 90s. Barkley waited while I bought a disposable camera to take a photo with me.

Shaq — interacted several times at LSU and other cities. Best “celebrity” ever.

Cal Ripken — total a$$hole

Knoxville, SWS, and Simpson during DoH filming in BR — nice and talkative

Gabe Northern — almost got into a fight with him in 96, ran into him again in Kendall Cleveland’s apartment and laughingly squashed our beef (mutual friends), saw him again in Miami in late 90s and hooked him and his friends up with VIP tables at Liquid, saw him again in Tigerland in early 2000s. Remembered me every time and always had great conversations.

Obama (Senate and WH) — amazingly nice and personable, even traded jokes about Dems and Republicans.

Robin Williams — Met him in Germany in early 80s while filming Moscow on the Hudson. Probably high on coke, but hysterically erratic when he signed autographs.

Cameron Diaz — weird, thought I was going to steal her purse on Collins Ave (Miami Beach) and ducked into a Nike store as I walked by.

My rule of thumb is don’t get starstruck. They’re normal folk like most of us and just want to be treated with anonymity (except for a few who revel in their “stardom”).

Ben Crenshaw - on a flight seated next to him. I was really tired and when I saw him I thought okay great, he is not going to want me speaking to him so I can sleep. Complete opposite happened, he talked and talked. Finally, he brings up golf and asks if I played golf. I laughed and said Ben, you play golf. I chase a white ball around a cow pasture. He laughed for awhile. He was a celebrity to meet.

Diana Ross - I saw she mentioned earlier. Same as above, she is seated in my row In F on a flight. She is against the window when I get to the row. My boarding pass indicates I'm in the window seat. She obviously knows she is in the wrong seat and quickly asks if I don't mind that she sits in the window seat. Sure thing, no problem. I can tell she doesn't want conversation which is great with me. Two guys coming down the aisle, very much flaming and they see her and start getting excited. One of the guys pulls out his phone to take her picture and I put my hand on his phone and tell him NO PICTURES!! He has a few choice words for me and I tell him to STFU and go to his seat. She grabs my arm and tell me "Thank you" and we exchanged no other words for the flight.

Luke Bryan: was super personable and real chill.

Justin Moore: even more chill than Luke. Had a beer with us and shot the shite for a while before he played Rodeo Houston

Amy Lee of Evanescence: cool as frick.

Kat Dunn (Big Brother)- met her on Bumble. Went on one great date, cool arse chick, just really fricking busy touring and promoting for BB all the time.

Never had a negative run in with a celeb I guess.

I too met him at the Walgreen on College arrive while he was filming the Dukes of Hazzard. I resisted the urge to call him Stiffler and he talked to me about the movie and all the stunts they were doing and that I should watch the movie when it releases.

I was sitting next to a guy playing blackjack at the Cal-Neva Lodge in Lake Tahoe....a random $5/hand game and no one was around. He looked like some old surfer dude with a Mexican surfer poncho thing with the hood pulled up. We are sitting there for awhile drinking beer, playing blackjack and just shooting the shite about nothing. A crowd staring forming around the table and I couldn't figure out what the frick was going. Finally this guy pulls his hoodie down and says "well I guess I am out of here" and it was Robin Williams......had no idea the entire time.

Maybe he was having a bad night? He was with some young hot chick, maybe she wasn’t putting out? Idk. Just felt it was a dick move to just blow off two kids asking for autograph. And it wasn’t like there was anyone really around either to draw attention to him to where he would be bombarded.

But the admiral was awesome. He was with his wife and kids. Total family guy and talked to us for a lil bit.

My high school golf coach moved to San Antonio my senior year. She gave Robinson golf lessons. She said he might have been the best human being she had ever spent time with. This was back in 94-98ish.
