I really don’t understand.

Shotgun adds 5 yards to the play.

What is the benefit to setting up for 4th down in shotgun that I am unaware of?

Is it just a lost art at this point?

If you don’t play enough under center, the snap under center becomes high risk.

90% of OCs have no conception how to win games.

Then set aside practice time to practice under center. It’s dumb to be in the shotgun on fourth and 1.

You are expecting the OL to win their block. Your running power with a QB. You spread out D and counts. It’s just like handing off just one less person handling the ball.

Qb sneak/bush push isn't infallible.

But I agree.

Sure, it isn’t infallible, but the concept of starting with a 5 yard penalty makes zero sense to me.

Jalen Hurts plays in shotgun every play except for the arse blast.

The handoff still happens at about the same spot on most plays.

The Eagles are an anomaly. Their conversion rate is measurably higher on the QB sneak than anyone else in the NFL.

It's likely their OL that gets extremely low and cuts the entire
middle of the DL. I think it's Kelce, not Hurts.

A&M did it multiple times today. Lined up under center at the goal line and got a couple of TDs and also got a 4th down conversion out of it.

I think it’s both (and the whole OL). Doesn’t Hurts squat like 600 pounds?

And a lot of teams converted from the shotgun.

Maybe that was Miles' logic of employing the toss on 4th and 1 with a badass runner downhill with momentum. Surprised more teams dont try to run someone like Refrigerator Perry on short yardage situations.

Look how far from the line the handoff happens.

Now look at this one. Not much different.

Exactly - I'll never understand it or agree with it.
