Two would-be robbers were shot at, one fatally, by a pizza store employee in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

According to Philadelphia police, the incident happened around 8 p.m. at George's Pizza on Oxford Avenue in the city's Frankford neighborhood.

Officers say two suspects entered the pizza shop armed with firearms and attempted to rob the store.

Gunfire was exchanged between the two suspects and the store's employee.

One of the suspects was shot multiple times in the head and upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second suspect fled from the pizza shop on foot.

Police say nothing was taken from the store and no other injuries were reported. They also recovered the suspects' firearms at the scene.

There is no word yet on the identity of the suspect who was shot and killed.

One man at the scene told Action News he spoke with the store employee who fired at the suspects. The employee said the shooting was in self-defense.

"What I saw was a guy lying down on the ground. Blood. The owner's son said he had to shoot him because the guy was shooting at him. Said he had to shoot back self-defense," recalled Bill Hackett from Frankford.

Police say they are reviewing outdoor security cameras to try and locate the suspect who ran away.

If the pizza shop had been a gun-free zone then the robbers would have avoided it and gone to the next target

We don't. The left wants community therapists to reach out to these criminals and solve crime. That would surely work

Restorative justice is an approach to justice that aims to repair the harm done to victims. In doing so, practitioners work to ensure that offenders take responsibility for their actions, to understand the harm they have caused, to give them an opportunity to redeem themselves, and to discourage them from causing further harm. For victims, the goal is to give them an active role in the process, and to reduce feelings of anxiety and powerlessness.

Restorative justice is founded on an alternative theory to the traditional methods of justice, which often focus on retribution. Restorative justice programs can also complement traditional methods, and it has been argued that some cases of restorative justice constitute punishment from the perspectives of some positions on what punishment is.
quote:

One response to a crime, in a restorative justice program, is to organize a meeting between the victim and the offender. This is sometimes done with representatives of the wider community. The goal is for them to share their experience of what happened, to discuss who was harmed by the crime and how, and to create a consensus for what the offender can do to repair the harm from the offense.

Because a small section of society does not know how to act in a civil manner with others.

Because animals don't respond to civil discourse.
