When I see homeless people in my area the first thing I do is feel sorry for myself too. It must suck having to walk/drive past them everyday on your way to a nice meal, soft bed, and a roof over your head every night. I mean do these people even consider what they’re doing to you and how they’re affecting your view of the city? Selfish bastards

Yeah, this is just bullshite. I don't feel sorry for myself but the reason I have a nice meal, bed and roof is because I get up every day and go to work, apply myself and strive for upward mobility.

So I don't feel sorry for them either. Some fine pearl clutching on your part though

Yep, it's faux emotion.

People who have been handed everything tend to feel more guilty about their success than those who earned it.

Most of the homeless are there by choice.

I don’t think I was responding to you. But a hit dog hollers I guess. I love the use of your word “pearl clutching”. Seems many on this board don’t notice their own pearl clutching while elevating themselves over the homeless. We’re all just a few mistakes away from the same results. One mistake could put any of us in jail, without a home, or dead. Many of these homeless folks served over seas in our military so you can go to work everyday and come home to a roof over your head. Many of these folks have bad mental illnesses because of it. They don’t need your self righteousness, they need help.

Lol, yeah I was definitely born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I go to work every day too. Y’all ain’t nothing special. I’m not either. Lords blessed me and humbled me. That’s why I feel compassion. Every post I read here, not one of them showed an ounce of compassion. Some of you show more compassion to an animal than you do these people.

See here's part of the problem.

Taking drugs isn't a mistake, it's a choice.

Not getting clean isn't a mistake, it's a choice.

Depends on the animal and depends on the people.

Not all homeless people are poor victims of circumstance.

Some of them are truly shitty human beings.

You accuse those who are sick and tired of these zombies of painting with a broad brush, while you paint with a broad brush as well.

People are getting sick and tired of the world created by too much tolerance and too little whacking of the head with a great big stick.

I can vouch for this first hand.

Sometimes you have to tell that person "Ok, you wanna drown, then drown on your own, you ain't bringing me down with you".

I don’t think anyone in this thread has mentioned the bestseller from a couple years ago — San Fransicko: How Progressives Kill Cities, by Michael Shellenberger.

It is mostly focused on LA and SF, but it is a fascinating read. Total indictment of left wing policies toward the homeless. The problem, I suppose, is that there are really no major cities left in the US that do not enthusiastically elect progressives.

I'll concede that anyone is a couple mistakes away from staring at a life on the street if they don't get it together, but the shite I see begging on a corner or doing drugs in public?

They all have different stories. Most of it is drug abuse/mental illness. No one just decides one day to be a drug addict. I guess I’ve been addicted to alcohol so maybe that’s where my sympathy comes from. God took it away from me and filled me with compassion for others that are struggling with misfortune and substance abuse.

Not true. I said some of you

I hate seeing all of this homelessness as well. Who should we whack in the head with the big stick? What will it accomplish?

Perhaps the fentanyl pouring in to the country is the government's solution. It makes it's way to the streets. No one forces them to use drugs. They choose to partake and eventually the poison does the job. The government then has plausible deniability.

Lol they send resources your tax money pays for to save them.

That’s why they are such a problem.

They also start fires. People get mad and burn other homeless peoples shite. You think there aren’t domestic violence type problems amongst the homeless?

Very Christian and compassionate of you to just turn the cheek while the mentally ill smoke meth and fentanyl and live under bridges.
