Aside from the A&M game, you could argue the defense was so bad and gave up so many points - many very quickly- that he had more opportunities to rack up stats and score.

You could say that but I can almost guarantee he had less possessions than the other candidates. I know Nix and Penix threw a lot more passes in 12 games than JD. If we had 3-4 more possessions per game you could say that would be probably 10 more TDs and 1,000 more yards… that is with a few stops and turnovers.

Wrong. Nix had over 80 more attempts than JD

He did not really have many more plays than Nix or other Heisman candidates. Look at his yards per play and points per play

Scoring drives take less time than 3 and outs?
