..because they are trying to help a specific player win it by keeping 1 player out of the T4 who deserves it.

Let's be honest. Sports writers can be the most sanctimonious douchebags on the planet.

Some of them use the privilege of a vote for a personal crusade of theirs. Baseball HOF voters have submitted totally blank ballots before. The old NFL writer Paul Zimmerman once said that he would never vote Ken Stabler to the HOF as long as he was alive.

It's not simply a difference of opinion all the time. So yes, they should lose the privilege if they don't take the vote seriously.
