His career record as a head coach says otherwise.

Maybe he’s meant to only be an assistant.
I am going by my interactions with him and what other coaches say about him.

His record at woodlawn was better than most that have coached there in past 30 years?

Yet, it was a losing record and he was .500 at Hahnville.

By all accounts he’s a really nice guy. He’s just not a great head coach.

Coaches can say whatever they want about him. The matter of the fact is that he didn't produce. First couple of years were hard with COVID and then Ida. But these last 2 seasons have been bad. There was no emotion on the sideline...players and coaches. Nobody seemed to really care. The final game of the regular season at Terrebonne this season, they needed to win for a shot at getting in and keeping a 23-year consecutive playoff appearance streak going and nobody looked like they gave a shite.

They were slow to make adjustments in games, much of the time not changing things up until the 4th quarter. Game management was poor. They were routinely late getting plays into the QB, much of the time with less than 10 seconds on the play clock. And that happened in multiple years with different OCs. They lost games to teams they should have beat (Newman x2) and, ultimately, have been completely overshadowed by that team across the river. His record at Hahnville was 19-18 & 3-6 this past season, his best finish in district was 2nd place, they were 5th in 7-5A this season only finishing ahead of Central Lafourche (1-9) and HL Bourgeois (2-8), and he was 0-3 in the playoffs. That's just not good enough.

I know someone very close to the team. Luquet truly does care about the players - there's no question about that. He brought in some seniors after the season ended and asked for feedback about what could be done better, so he was looking to improve. Just the day before he resigned, the word was that he was going to replace the OC and DC. Then the news broke that he resigned. I've heard that school admins gave him the chance to resign on his own.

Whoever Hahnville hires, they need to be someone with a proven track record. They program gets plenty of support from the school system, school administration and fans....but they need to get back to winning.
