He was at Southeastern University in the mid to late 80’s. He was a Theta Xi, and I didn’t interact with him much but had the opinion that he was an A-Hole.

Listened to the first episode, and I'm amused how Virgil the former drug dealer is all "I can't believe that White Devil is busting all those drug dealers cuz they black."

Interesting article

He’s a guy that was running by his own rules but made arrests and broke records doing so.

The ones that played by the rules got ticked off because he got all the big accolades but he was not following the rules. He was too arrogant and pushed it too far with the big lifestyle, fancy cars, and hanging out with celebs.

It was a matter of time before he got snipped

I’m a friend of the family, but I don’t know him. I suspect he was a very effective agent, but played fast and loose with the rules. Feels like the Feds made an example out of him, but no clue why.

I remember him at Southeastern. I was there in the early 90’s. He used to Bar Tend at Starz in Hammond if I remember correctly.

Podcast series is definitely worth a listen. Scott seemed like a net positive but came with plenty of negatives.

“played fast and loose with the rules.” - This is a euphemism that covered a lot of territory with Chad. It got bad.

“made an example out of him, but no clue why.” - Maybe when the trial in a big case against a major dealer was destroyed when Chad and his crew tried unsuccessfully to get a C.I. to tell a major lie on the stand.

Chad was trying to cover his arse because he had gotten a big drug dealer to buy a custom ordered truck prior to Chad arresting him, so Chad could seize the vehicle for his own personal use. Then he tried to get a different C.I. to lie against the bigger dealer.

Oh what a tangled web we weave…

Yeah Chad tries to play it cool, and adamantly denies any illegal wrong doing, but he thought he was above the law, clearly. And the agents that were in his drug enforcement task force were dealing drugs. Did he know? Hard to believe he had no idea, but even if he didn't, that stuff happened under his management.

Dude extorted his CIs into giving him nice vehicles just because he could. And he was cocky about it. And a federal agent coercing a witness to commit perjury so he can win his case? frick that guy.

And all of the reported transgressions are only what we know-think about all the fricked up shite we don't know about.

It's not some big revelation that the DEA as a whole is dirty and corrupt. Their budgets and funding and their JOBs literally depends on drugs being on the street. And the more the better. It's not rocket science.

At least he won't kill you like people with 3 first names. Derrick Todd Lee, Lee Harvey Oswald, and Henry Lee Lucas come to mind.

He worked there and then after he was the door man at Chevy's for a time. He use to live in St Tropez and kept his ski boat on full display. That's how I knew him from the skiing days down the Tickfaw. I was good friends of his old room mate who was also a big skier. That's all I want to say about him. I know of some crazy shite in dealing with some people that knew him. From my POV, he took his job maybe a little too serious but that was his personality in everything. Intense. What's the saying? You F@ck around too long, you eventually find out. You burn bridges and push the boundaries, you eventually get yours right or wrong.

Man, that was a good podcast. Just finished it.

Side note - as a jury person, how would you believe the testimony of a known criminal or one of the deputies trying to save their own @$$?

Bump.

Just finished every episode myself.

CS got a raw deal in my opinion. The Feds (FBi/DOJ) were on the wrong side of what was right. CS is not saint by any means but this Domingue guy is the real POS rotten apple of the bunch. And for whatever reason the FBI made the decision to protect him and grant him immunity just so he would be a cooperating witness against their big fish CS. And through their entire investigation, all they could come up with in the end was perjury and procedural misconduct that could have been handled by the DEA internally.

It’s to hard to fathom that a sentence of 13 years in prison for a nonviolent conviction is fair justice. Then to add the icing on top, the FBI allowed 2 major drug suppliers in the region walk away free with no charges in all this mess.
