Texas is gonna drive 90 yards in 15 seconds? I bet the probability of the rb fumbling or getting hurt is much higher than them driving 90 in 15 seconds.

extremely unlikely, but a first down makes it impossible. You are using hindsight which the coaches didn't have. The only mistakes I put on the coaches in the late game is, throwing it on third the drive before, and putting a hobbled RB in the game.

I'd more put it on the linemen for not carrying him off.

All they needed to do was kneel. Punt with 15 seconds left. Game over. And save all of their fans the biggest panic attack they've ever had.

punts get blocked punts get fumbled punts get returned people would shite a chicken if the coach willingly gave the ball back without trying to END THE GAME with a 5 yard gain

They punted anyway. You’re running into a stacked box. There were 9 in the box.

Too bad the guy got hurt. But what about the stupid fair catch interference by the Wash player.

don’t fricking throw the ball on the series before. Make Texas use a timeout. I swear it’s mind-numbing how bad coaches are with clock management.

+1 I just cannot fathom it

He didn’t have to get off the field. Washington was just going to stand around, let the play clock roll down and either take a delay or call a time out with 1 second left on the play clock.

Shocker. You come off as someone who played ball in high-school and still is holding on to those glory days. Just sit back and let the guys who actually made it to college and are playing at the highest level to play and coach the game.

they would have had to shoot you like a horse on the field if you had suffered the injury that dude did
pretty much. I know a guy who played 1 1/2 qtrs of a state championship game with a torn acl. He could’ve limped off

People saying to kneel are crazy. 3 knees and they are punting with 20 seconds.
you cray

A few handoffs are very low risk too.
but still riskier than just kneeling

Honestly, I don't understand the counter-case at all.

even better just roll Penix out either right or left before kneeling/sliding down and they could’ve run even more if not all of the 15 second gap for the punt

There were multiple brainless plays on special teams in various games today.

This is why you don’t assume a punt is automatic
