Started by setting the record for punts and non scoring drives in a half for this season. Then he kept getting stronger and we finally caught back up at the end.

Agree, but to the OPs point he clearly was pretty comfortable. I think he’s in a good spot heading into the off-season. If he lives in the film room like Burrow did and Jayden did he could make a leap forward.

That would mean we’d have another very productive offense.

That play looked doomed from the start. It wasn't executed well.

The exact same play was used by Washington later on and it was done so much better.

The offensive line sucked the first few series. It's not a shock that once the OL started blocking well, the offense exploded.

I can agree with this.
The one thing that worries me is when he gets fired up he gets very fired up and forces things.

needs to work on setting his feet.

This was my biggest complaint from his performance…
He did not have his feet set for almost every incompletion that I saw him throw.

Could be a pretty easy way to gain 5-10% on his completion percentage.

It's quite obvious that the coaches have a lot of confidence in him. He was slinging it from the get-go.

It’s Kelly’s offense. That’s at least partly why Denbrock left.

You know something, I've watched a lot of different teams during this bowl season and so many look exactly the same now, I don't even think developing an explosive offense is as difficult as it was years ago. The difference is just the top programs have better players and do a better job of play calling. Also obviously the QB development is important. Installing an explosive offense seems like something every program can do now.

I didn’t like how he was drinking the cup of water when he was on the sidelines either.

There’s some nitpicking shite going on up in here lol

Nuss is going to be fine. He’s the son of an NFL quarterback and offensive coordinator. He’s physically gifted. He’s been well-coached his entire life. He’s going to understand what he sees across the line of scrimmage more than a typical quarterback just getting a starting role. He is a natural leader that players gravitate to. LSU might have 99 problems but Nuss ain’t one of them

It wasn’t a perfect outing, but to criticize him for the reverse pass is ridiculous. The OL allowed penetration which threw the play off from the very start. He caught a poor return pass and did everything possible just to not take a sack.

I have been agnostic about Nuss (other than making fun of his over -the-top fanboys) but really saw improvement in his game in the bowl.
Remember, some of his young WRs need work, too.
He is true drop back, and no, he doesn’t have the ability to run like Burrow, at least yet.
Footwork, feel for the pocket, and knowing when to bolt inside the tackles only comes with time.
He really looks like he could be good.
But, he’s gonna need a defense.

I'll better evaluate him once he plays some SEC DL's

I believe Wisconsin's D is rated higher than all the defenses we played, except Alabama and Texas A&M. Even higher than Florida State.

If you notice, Jayden was transformed into a more pocket passer this season.

It was the first college start by Nuss. First start and first game called by the new OC’s. How did Nuss do compared to the previous LSU QB’s?

Joe 1st start:
11/24 46% 140 yards. Long of 37.
0 Td’s 2sacks.

Jayden 1st start:

25/34 74% 209 yards. Long of 22 yards.
2TD’s 4 sacks.

Nuss 1st start

31/45 69% 395 yards. Long of 43 yards.
3 TD’s 0 sacks.

I have no idea why everybody is so enamored with trying to get a Nussmeier to scramble for 6 yards. He keeps his head up and distributes to weapons down the field.

This was the only thing I saw myself wanting him to do differently over the course of the game.

A few throwaways/forced throws when he had a good bit of green in front of him at pretty key points.

Obviously we’re a little spoiled having JD for two years but those were a lot of lost yards that could have been the difference in the game.

Definitely a really good showing by him though and I loved that the team responded to him and stayed the course in a bowl game that could have gotten away from us early.

Loved seeing Jayden on the sidelines and celebrating with him and the team, hopefully helps lead to a seamless transition next year.
