I just want to be in on a regular and consistent basis. Let the chips fall from there.

Let’s beat bama in the regular season > sec championship > playoffs… that should send Nick on his way…

I would rather get a bye by being SEC champs but a home playoff game at night would be one of the biggest games in Tiger Stadium history. Just imagine the tailgating and then the game atmosphere.

First round bye BUT I pity the team that has to play vs LSU in Tiger Stadiums first ever playoff game.

That place will be on fire! Especially if it’s vs a rival like Ole Miss or Bama

That would mean, most likely, 2:30... and that means in the 4th quarter...

as the sun finds its home in the western sky...
It's Saturday night in Death Valley...

It's not a normal home game. Ticket sales are run by the CFP and will be distributed like a bowl game. The money is not great enough to offset the advantage of automatically making the quarter finals. Also only conference champions will get a bye so that means we will have won the conference. I'll take that over a quasi home game.

That’s the whole point. It’s illogical and stupid that the top seeds are screwed out of a home playoff game and that privilege goes to lower seeds.

Why would any team prefer playing a game (home or away) over a bye week to rest and auto-advance?

Byes are stupid.

I would always pick more football over no football.

Given this some thought. I’d take a 5 seed over a bye. Other than that, take the bye. Have they come out with dates for this yet? If it’s the week after the SECCG, then you get the highest ranked G5 team which is basically a week to get better and get after a team that isn’t as talented as you on Saturday. Meanwhile, the top 4 can’t practice or do anything because of the 15 practice rule. (Unless they change this). It’s a long layoff from seasons end to that semi. It would be nice to have the extra work and kept sharp by a game against an overmatched opponent.

I would disagree on that... we'd be one of the few venues that would probably be above freezing (especially at night). That would likely lock in a night slot.

Consider-
Byes:
Ohio State/Michigan (maybe UW or Oregon)
Alabama/UGA (maybe Texas)
Ok State/Utah/Arizona (new Big 12 champ)
Clemson/Fla State

probable hosting 1st rd games:
Ohio State/Michigan
Alabama/UGA
and then pick from- LSU, Penn State, Texas, Oklahoma, maybe Clemson/Fla State, Washington/Oregon, Ole Miss... that's a lot of cold weather teams.

A home playoff game in TS would be thoroughly insane

My favorite part of the new playoff system

Next game would be a bowl game at neutral site. No home games unless seeded #5 thru #8.

Reminder

If there was a 12 Team Playoff this year, they probably would have put Bama at #5.
