Hasn’t had a top 25 class in his two seasons there…he can be the best coach in regards to scheme but if he can’t recruit he won’t last 3 seasons.

They think it recruits itself

Just wait until they don’t win 10 games next season and not in the top 5 in recruiting.

He just played for a national championship with 3* recruits. This is an A+ hire. The guy can coach. He hires a staff that can recruit and he’s in great shape. He is no Mike Shula.

Alabama is not about to start having 20 plus rated classes come on.

Everyone is a risk

They hired a coach who is known as a great coach and just won a game in the college football playoff. There’s not a lot of those to choose from.

But it’s like you guys think Alabama didn’t discuss these things with DeBoer. “Hey. We would LOVE to have you here, but we need to discuss X,y,z.” You think if they didn’t like their answer they would have hired him?

DeBoer isn’t paying the recruits. The guys paying him are. So they will continue to recruit if they want to. That’s how it works. Unless DeBoer is a complete failure and refuses to recruit, they will be fine.

Won’t be a problem. Bama will recruit itself for a few years no matter what. I’d be more worried about a bulk of his wins coming from the equivalent of the minor leagues in baseball.

They gonna walk recruits to the Saban statue and money will come out to get them to commit.

Bc it’s harder to recruit at UW than Alabama. He won’t be as good as Saban but he won’t be bad like he was at UW.

They think the school recruits itself but realistically there are about 10 schools who could claim the same and yet many have had issues with recruiting when the coach lacks.

Not a bama fan at all but come on do you really think recruiting Washington is anything like recruiting bama. He will be fine recruiting.

Lane Kiffin discretely exits the chat.

Why would an LSU fan be concerned for Bama's recruiting. We're about to emerge as a phoenix from the ashes of the remains of college football and rain terror on all that stands in our way.

This is actually a very big concern and I’m surprised it hasn’t been brought up more.

The SEC is an arms race like never before. Does this guy have it?

Were you worried about Saban's recruiting when LSU hired him back in 1998?

This was his final recruiting class at Michigan State:

quote:

TE Chris Baker 6'4" 250lb Saline

DB/WR Duron Bryan 6'0" 185lb Lexington Park, MD

DT Willie Comerford 6'4" 280lb St. Petersburg, FL

QB Lorenzo Guess 6'3" 190lb Wayne

TB Herb Haygood 6'0" 180lb Sarasota, FL

DB Renaldo Hill 5'11" 170lb Detroit

LB Matt Kropf 6'4" 220lb Traverse City

QB Matt Mauck 6'3" 220lb Jasper, IN

TE/LB Ivory McCoy 6'4" 225lb Chicago, IL

LB Ben Meloche* 6'3" 225lb Beloeil, Quebec

LB Joel Mesman 6'3" 245lb Grand Rapids

DE Nick Meyers 6'4" 255lb Springfield, OH

OL Shawn Murphy 6'5" 285lb Cincinnati, OH

WR/DB Demont Smith 5'11" 175lb Grand Rapids

OL Josh Smith 6'5" 275lb O'Fallon, IL

DL Artie Steinmetz 6'5" 275lb Edgewood, KY

WR/DB DeMario Suggs 6'0" 185lb Toledo, OH

LB T.J. Turner 6'4" 240lb Hillsboro, OH

DT Marty Wensel 6'4" 275lb Slatington, PA

Did a single name on this roster make it to the NFL?

Yeah good point my dear buddy and I were agreeing earlier today that we feel Kelly can out-recruit this fricker year in and year out, and that’s about all we’re concerned with on this matter.

I guess the idea is NIL and Saban residual will make up for his lack of any recruiting chops whatsoever.

The bama brand will recruit itself for 3-4 years. You start going 8-4/9-3, all bets are off.

UGA has already filled that vacuum to some degree. Others will follow.

It's all about winning.
