Has anyone else used these kinds of services before? I mean, not including going hunting/fishing yourself which it the ultimate direct to consumer approach.

Just got in our first order from an Alaskan fishing company with a lot of seafood that isn’t really local to where we live and am looking forward to cooking with all this protein.

Placed the order with Wild Alaska Salmon and Seafood. It shipped on Tuesday and arrived this morning still frozen solid.

Just curious if others buy their meat and fish this way and if they notice a difference in taste and quality?

Just call it fish or seafood already.

I called it fish in the title and elsewhere, but thanks for your input.

I've used Fish Fixe, bought directly from Open Blue Cobia...almost all of the beef in my house comes directly from Texas ranchers...44 Farms, Moorhouse Ranch, Little Cattle Co., RC Ranch.

To me, there is a significant difference in quality in the beef.

I’ve used Wild Alaskan Fishing Company for salmon, cod, halibut and rockfish. Definitely looks and tastes higher quality than stuff from the chain grocery store. These cuts are denser, aesthetically pleasing, and more filling, imo. Worth the additional price, to me. A six oz portion with a vegetable side is a satisfying dinner

I purchase meat directly from farms in Missouri and it is much more tasty than grocery atore beef.

Never have. Curious though, what did that bounty cost with shipping? Willing to share the number?

I order salmon and cod from thunder’s catch. I’ve had good experiences.

Happy to share. The entire order was about $200.

If you’re trying to save money on groceries I’m not saying this is the route to take, but I don’t think that’s bad at all for the amount of seafood we got.

That's pretty decent for what I'm looking at. Single Sao could make quite a few nice meals out of that amount.

We order from NebraskaBison sometimes. Buy enough for free shipping, stock the freezer for a while.

So the tuna is from the Philippines, scallops from the Atlantic , is the salmon and cod from Alaska?
Coho and sockeye ain’t the primest of the salmon, but as long as you know what you are getting

we get our beef, pork & chicken from the farmers market. I know who raised the animals, what they ate, how they were dispatched and how/where/by who they were butchered and packed. It makes a difference on the plate

I buy my shrimp and catfish straight from the fisherman. I buy my crabs from and crawfish from a middle man.

I have a buddy that owns a Butcher Shop and I'll probably buy a 1/2 cow from him soon.

The Nobu recipe? Were definitely doing that with a couple pieces of the black cod.

Everyone does have their opinion but I’ll say I know a lot of folks who eat the freshest salmon around and my opinion happens to be shared by most of those people.

There’s only one strain of King salmon I would put up against prime coho and sockeye and that’s the Spring run of Kings in the Columbia River.
