I mean there are like 1,000 really really really good professional players with unlimited time and money with access to great facilities and instruction. So my answer is NO!

Why is golf the only sport this argument comes up? I don’t hear people think they could play linebacker in the NFL

Because you can be short, fat, skinny, slow, and not all that strong and still be a pro

No other mainstream sport can really say that

The answer here is obviously going to be no for almost all people. But is the question you are given these resources at 8 or now?

But more people would have a chance in golf than football, basketball, etc etc because the size and physical limitation isn’t there

A very good athlete that is 5’10” 170 pounds the answer is 100% no for pretty much every major sport except golf. That’s why this gets brought up. Rickie, JT, Rory had a 0.0% to be pros in any major sport besides golf

Because golf is one of the only sports where an amateur CAN do something the absolute best ever would do.

An amateur CAN hit a shot to within 3 feet from 125 out.

An amateur CAN sink a 23 footer for birdie.

An amateur CAN stripe a drive 295+ in the middle of the fairway.

A guy sitting on his couch isn’t making a TFL on Derrick Henry, getting a hit off an mlb pitcher or draining a 3 in an NBA player’s face.
