I’m in the market for new irons. The following irons I tested outside on a range, indoors on GC quad, and indoors at another location on TM. Any guesses on what I went with?

Cobra King Tour
Mizuno Pro 243
New Level 623 CB
Ping i230
PXG 0317T
Srixon ZX7 MKII
Taylormade P7MC
Titleist T150
Wilson Staff Model CB

This was a long process. I rarely change irons but my 9, 7, and 4 are getting worn. So it was time for a change. Last irons I got were 3 years ago and I go to the range twice a week and play once or twice on the weekend.

I’m not a fan of Callaway’s iron shape, so they were excluded. I couldn’t get a Miura to test. Distance wasn’t a factor in choosing unless it was noticeably short (which none were). All I care about is the feel, how it frames the ball, tech, and shaft offerings.

The Cobras. I had the previous generation of those King Tours and they are still my backup set.

They were all extremely close. Some came down to looks. The Cobra king Tour was the shocking one of the test. It was very very good. The Mizunos seemed to jump every so often. New Levels were very good. Great looking iron. The Pings looked great. The Pearl finish and the tech are great. The offset in the long irons tho. Top line is thickish too. The PXGs were meh. Nothing special. The Taylormades were good but jumpy as well. T150’s prolly tied for 2nd. All around great iron. The Wilson was good, but the shaft I want is an upcharge. The Srixon was the winner. Looks great. Feels great. Plenty of tech. I got the ZX5 in the 4 iron as well, blends perfectly. It could have very was have been T150 with a T200 4 iron tho. Both were neck and neck

I believe the i530’s are about to drop.

So if you like the i230’s, you might can get them at a slightly lower price after the i530 drop.

The Wilson's are the most underrated of the bunch.

That club head is perfect, just not a lot of shaft offerings.

I would have bought it if I could have gotten the MMT Shaft in it.

You should have tried the PXG O311P with the MMT Shaft too.
