I've got no dog in this fight but always enjoy these threads. OP may very well be a shitty boss but I'd also say that the majority of work from homers aren't nearly as productive as the imagine themselves to be.
To the OP, I'd just respond with something like "No worries, we can manage without you' or some other subtle jab to remind them how non-essential they are.
