Yes it does. They changed that a few years back

quote:

In 2021, the NFL approved changes requiring every team to interview at least two external minority candidates for open head coaching positions and at least one external minority candidate for a coordinator job. Additionally, at least one minority and/or female candidate must be interviewed for senior level positions (e.g., club president and senior executives).

Falcons going after a coach who has exactly 1 game of co-OC experience? Thats bold

Well hiring Raheem Morris a perennial loser was even more bold

New updated Rooney rule I believe states you have to have at least one minority on the offensive staff…

Hankton wont be OC if he takes the job. He’ll be PGC/WR/CO-OC. No way Morris messes up likely his last HC chance with a career WR coach to call plays.

Almost will certainly offer him the WR coach job and could get creative with a title to make it enticing, especially if he promises being next in line behind Robinson, if that is the guy

Still likely a pay cut for hankton but if he wants to be a big time NFL coach, he could see this as the path. Likely will have more opportunities than this soon anyway

DEI glasses off: the Atlanta Falcons are interviewing a college assistant who has never called plays before for their offensive coordinator position?

DEI glasses on: this shite is so stupid

Probably doing him a favor while getting keen insight into those 2 WR prospects.

Please remember how that first head coaching job went for Raheem Morris. I see another bust coming.

He’s been a WR coach but keep in mind Cortez played 8 years of pro ball and didn’t start coaching until he was over 30 years old.

I hope the falcons don’t do this interview and then convince him to come on as WR coach. The gap in work life balance between NFL coaches and major college coaches has been widening.

NFL coaches are essentially completely off for 3 months and then have 3 months of decent work load and 6 months of intense workload.

College? It never stops. Transfer portal opens and closes every few months, recruiting, hosting recruiting camps all summer, etc, etc.

Kind of like Sloan not having the resume to earn him LSUs OC spot.

Hankton is NOT that guy. Decent coach but probably the most expendable assistant on our staff.

Something tells me they will use this interview to offer him something else with more money attached.

They probably are interested in him to some capacity, but I think this also means that either they are interested in trading up for Daniels or grabbing one of our receivers and their initial spot
