They have just as many if not more hits as any classic rock band you can name and their albums are some of the most well rounded music of that era.

Also, it cracks me up how a band based out of the Bay Area in California is a headliner of the “southern rock” genre (right there with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers in my opinion).

I grew up in the 60s and 70s and they were definitely not underrated during that era. People knew how great they were.

where are they rated? I mean, they're ok but, I've never owned any of their music.

I like several Fogerty songs. Otherwise, I consider them overrated. His fake accent was dumb. And bubblegum crap like Centerfield is cringeworthy.

No, they are properly rated. For me, it’s The Band. Short run, 2 outstanding albums, generally credited among musicians as being extremely influential yet you hardly ever hear them mentioned among the greats. Several of their members had health and drug issues

And everyone knows this.

I've never heard that. I've always heard them as "headliners" of swamp rock, which is distinct from southern rock. I don't think of LS and CCR in the same vein at all.

Nah, I'd say CCR is properly rated. They were an excellent band who is remembered as being an excellent band.

The most underrated band of all time is Hawkwind.

I don’t think so, one of the best American rock bands there is.

CCR is pretty underrated. But IMHO, Bad Company, Foghat, and Johnny Winter even more so.

Went to John Fogerty when he played at The Wharf in Orange Beach several years back and I must say it was one of, if not the best, concerts I've ever seen. I'm 53, I have seen some of the legends of RnR

He told the story for creation of the songs, had a rack of guitars that he changed out according to the song.

His son played guitar in the band. Son had graduated from Berkeley Music School and was excellent. How fricking awesome to be able to play with your father, who happens to be one of the greatest song writers of all times.

Speaking of song writing: Fogerty said he wrote ALL of the CCR songs in 1969. He signed with a record lable and per contract he had to produce x amount of songs.. he wrote & recorded them all in 1969..

I highly recommend going to one of his concerts if you ever get a chance, especially if you like CCR.

I think they may be slightly, because I personally think they are better than most from that era...

My all-time most underrated is probably Mott the Hoople.. or maybe Slade..

Pre-Stevie/Lindsey Fleetwood Mac is a solid nomination for this distinction.
