I don't think he'll retire. He talks about wanting to hang it up, then in the next breath, he'll talk about how Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott are inspirations because they're still making great movies in their 80s.

I hope he doesn’t stop making films.
I get that he got this weird thing he’s doing but why box yourself in? I’m sure he’s going to want to make another one in 5 years. Be a real shame if doesn’t do anything else.

I think he intends to retire.
And then I think in 5-10 years he will have an idea and stop being retired.

I think QT genuinely hates the direction the film industry has moved into over the last 10-15 years. I really don’t think he wants to make movies anymore. Write a book or play or TV show? Sure. But I think he’s done with filmmaking
Also he has said many times that most if not all directors get worse with time. I think he personally would include Scorsese and Scott in that category.

I think he does.
Unprecedented success. Tight crews, stars, and recurring actors are all in GREAT movies.
The market is turning. He'll go out on top doing nothing but satire and quality films that were accepted wholly by the miserable PC brigade that ruined films... And, well, everything.
That said, it's a lot of pressure for such a genius to release his final work.

Doesn’t he have a young kid? I think that’s also why he wants to step away from film.

he is serious about retiring. he has a kid now, and that is what he solely wants to focus on....being a dad.
can't fault the guy - he has provided us with some great entertainment over the years.
