Puncture wounds hurt something fierce.
Stepped on a board with a nail through it as a kid. Damn thing was nailed to my foot. I won a tetanus shot that day.

A brother-in-law of mine accidentally shot himself in the foot through his work boot with a framing nail gun.
Seems it had a malfunctioning tap plunger that kept the gun ready to shoot anytime the plunger got tapped hard enough even without hitting the trigger.
He had one of his co-workers use a claw hammer to grab the head of the nail and pull it out.
That gun went to the shop to be fixed later that day.
