but the age window for first grade was specified - so use that.

The previous statute stated that a child must be 6 before September 30th in order to attend 1st grade - it also allowed parents the right to wait until their child was 7 before starting 1st grade.

Law just went into effect for 2022-23 school year - prior to that kindergarten was not required by law in Louisiana.
in Rapides parish they will not allow you to delay beginning a grade, so if you are K eligible, you must go. No waiting a year

We had a September baby, he was a touch immature so we wanted to hold back to start the next year. That wasn’t allowed. So we started him.

Bet if they knew your kid could put a consistent beer league softball swing on HS pitching out to left at 19 years old and it would take down Barbe in the state tournament, they would have considered. Rapides can’t be that much more morally superior to Ouachita.

You 100% could have waited - 99% of the time what the school district tells you is bullshite. They love to say and do things that are blatantly against the law or against the rights of the parents. They know most people won’t seek legal representation to fight the school district

They aren’t - they just don’t want kids to wait because the more kids they have in their schools = more MFP money

Thanks man, WM had a great season as did Barbe.

West Monroe graduates some strong players: Hayden Federico to Ole Miss, John Pearson to LSU, Isaiah Shivers and Brennan Eager to ULM, Trey Hawsey to La Tech.

WM is going to have to reload, some good talent in the wings for WM baseball for next season.

Now all we have to do is wait for football season.

It’s fun to watch the unsuccessful try to tear down the successful.

It’s funny because they just listen to what they’ want to hear or what they want to believe.

4 starters last night were from one Catholic middle school. One of the subs was as well. At least 2 others were from other Catholic middle schools and I think the others went there in 8th grade

Eager was out the entire year due to surgery on UCL. The rest of the pitching staff returns. Yes I know Hawsey threw the last inning + last night, but he hadn’t thrown a pitch in a month prior. Simpson, Arledge, Roark, Anderson, and Starr return in the lineup. Fergie, Cupit, Frye, Carr, Gilbert, and everyone that pitched not named Hawsey returns. Replacing the big 3 will be a big hurdle. They were such a big part of the success the last 4 years. Lot of production to replace.

Which a lot of parents do for athletic purposes, which is pretty pathetic.

Lmao catholic doesn’t have to recruit. Especially for baseball. In the middle of the most dominant comprehensive sports run in the history of the state. The talent follows that.

Also this thread has turned into a shite show.

West Monroe, Catholic-BR, Barbe and Opelousas Catholic are loaded for years to come. Who else?

ETA: Teurlings Catholic had a lot of impact underclassmen.

1940s Jesuit

1950s istrouma

But C appears to be poised to continue the past couple of years. But don’t think that on a statewide perception the trophies they had to return tarnish some of this run. Deny it if you want but it is a black eye.

All because they invited some kids and their parents to the school’s open house. Absolute joke returning 2017 and 2020 and everyone knows it. Doesn’t tarnish anything. 5 football champs in 9 seasons.

If you think that was it you are lying to yourself or catastrophically mis informed

Inviting people to open house is not a violation
