Dark Souls (Remastered) Thread for replay discussion and first timers

some DkS1 discussion in the Elden Ring thread so I figured we could start a new thread.
That thread got my juices flowing for another DkS1 playthrough (have only completed one full playthrough on this game).
Got through the tutorial and ran around firelink collecting some items before going into Undead Burg and wrecking shite in quick fashion. I think I made it through Taurus demon dying maybe 3-5 times but they were all just me being careless. It felt much easier than I remember it being my first time in that initial area.
Fextralife suggests starting with New Londo Ruins, Valley of the Drakes, and Blighttown for advanced players, which is mind boggling to me. But it has me curious enough to maybe head to New Londo next and give it a shot.
Man….such a great game though and I’m afraid I might have officially been sucked into it full speed ahead

One of my favorite youtubers is fond of saying that Undead Burg is a perfect tutorial area. The first time you play it, it will take you three hours. The second time, it will take you five minutes
Without reading, I don't think they're telling you to actually *do* New Londo. I do frequently dip down there to grab the firekeeper soul by the first ghost (make sure you've used your souls; it will almost certainly be a suicide run if you're not used to doing it), and then depending on my build, take an immediate right after coming down on the elevator to then go up another elevator to Drakes, but don't actually do that stupid area unless you really want the RTSR. You just cross the bridge which brings you to the "exit" of Blighttown.
It's a bit of light sequence breaking that you can do with the Master Key.
As for what sequence you *should* use, that depends on your build. What are you playing/using?

I played my first run last summer and am furious with myself. I beat the final boss before the DLC…
Now I’m at the DLC in NG+1 and just cannot beat it. I’ve beaten every Souls boss outside of this DLC :(

I’ve played multiple runs over the years.
I wish I could bottle up the experience of that first run and sell it. Truly one of my best gaming memories.

Just bought the game for a friend, want to do a run myself. Top 5 all timer for me. Masterpiece

Tried to play this twice. First was 2015 only a couple years after it came out and I had no idea what I was getting into. Never made it past undead burg. The 2nd was a few years ago with a bit better understanding of what I was getting into but never made it past the Capra Demon. I want to get the same incredible feeling of accomplishment everyone else gets when they play these games but I suck :(

Can I get help for DkS3 in this thread? I just started and have questions.
Is there really no map?
How do you travel between bonfires?
Jumping seems to suck, is the jump attack not possible in this one?
Are guard counters not possible in this game?

Vin, now that I'm thinking about it, we should probably add a spoiler tag to the title. People can obviously ask questions and ask that that specific answer remain spoiler free, but not everyone is going to want that, so "spoilers" will be inevitable to come across if people read the thread, generally.

Did a mage run last year I think. Maybe earlier this year
My 9 year old is in Anor Londo on his first ever souls experience. Too make it more enjoyable I used the soul glitch and got him pretty OP but let him do most of the work. I mean, dude is 9. He’s used to Lego games and fifa
He tried the Anor Longo archers for like a week before he finally asked me to do it
I told him he had to roll and parry. I did it and he was like “I need to practice parrying more”.

I literally went to the dark side last night on my first time play through. I'm in Londo and I died, respawned and accidentally hit attack. Hit my sun bro and he's pissed. Try exiting and dieing again, nothing. He's still pissed. I'm pretty deep in Londo so trying to escape with him chasing me to absolve my sins doesn't seem an option, so I killed him I'm wearing his armor now in tribute, I then went and killed Abbot and Costello first try and then killed Gwyn and her brother because why not? I had already killed the only sunshine in Londo, might as well make it all dark. Still sucked tho

I'm close to finishing up my second full playthrough in New Game. I'm kicking myself for missing some stuff (a couple of tail weapons for instance). I'm feeling motivated to go for platinum so I might do two more runs which I think are needed to acquire all of the weapons. Also going to have to cheat probably and look some stuff up so I can meticulously plan the next 2 runs to ensure I don't have to do an extra run.
Maybe it's just my experience in FromSoft games at this point, but I'd say all but maybe 2 or 3 bosses have been incredibly easy this time. All I have left are the Dark Sun and Gwyn, plus the DLC. I'm doing DLC now before going back to Anor Londo to handle Dark Sun and then Gwyn.
Got to Artorias and died a couple of times before bed last night. Didn't seem all that daunting and I got close to finishing him off in the 2nd attempt. I feel good about that. I'm looking forward to the challenge when facing Manus and the Black Dragon though.
