For the morons there is a difference between CAN and SHOULD be rebuilt in 1 year. You were the same idiots using Mizzou as an example last year. They suck this year. And comparing Kansas with LSU or Pearl with McMahon shows just how stupid and bitter you really are. Your lives must be so miserable. Probably because you’ve never built or run anything on your entire lives.

The Mizzou example was used ALWAYS as a retort to those who constantly argued that no one could have had success at LSU last season. Or even just finish outside the very bottom of the league. Mizzou's success last season, along with K-State showed it CAN be done.

And I think a lot of sensitive posters felt the others had to high of expectations for McMahon last season. The reality is no one did. Preseason expectations were the lowest they had been since Johnny Jones' final season. No one was expecting a NCAAT birth (even though those who cover college basketball for a living felt LSU could be in the conversation for such in their preseason predictions). The frustration wasn't that LSU didn't achieve the same level of success they had in the 5 years prior. It's that LSU was one of the worst major-conf. teams in the country last year. One that had a nearly school record 14 game losing streak. There is a big difference between not being quite as good as you had been and being truly awful. There's also a big difference between being able to acknowledge the guy did an awful job, but understanding things COULD get better and twisting yourself into a logical pretzel to absolve the coach from ANY criticism.

At this point in the season it is clear the program is improved from last year. "Improved" doesn't necessarily mean "good". Improved means improved. LSU is still 13-12 (5-7). That's not "good". But they have an opportunity starting today to really build some momentum. LSU fans are no different than any other fans. They want to get behind the team/coach. But the team/coach needs to give them a reason too. Trying to sell close losses and a record just above .500 as "good" isn't it yet. Win tonight over the most recognized "brand" in the SEC and more fans will start to take notice. Follow that up with a good finish against a favorable schedule and more will continue to take notice. But it is silly to constantly try to gaslight fans who don't have any confidence in McMahon yet...because he hasn't given them much reason for confidence.

Great point. Although Pearl is a media darling and nationally known coach his first three years at Auburn were not very good, Even though he did not take over a program under NCAA investigation and facing possible draconian sanctions his record was

2014–15 Auburn 15–20 4–14 13th
2015–16 Auburn 11–20 5–13 13th
2016–17 Auburn 6–14 0–11 11th

They did have to vacate 7 SEC wins in 2017 due to assistant coach and former Auburn star Chuck Person's involvement in a scandal with Adidas. Even with credit for those wins Pearl was 16-38 on court in the SEC in his first three seasons.
