It’s a very nice town and a hidden gem in Louisiana if you don’t mind limited options for restaurants and relatively high real estate prices for a small town. A lot of the houses on the lake are actually vacation homes or Air B&B’s.

New Roads has is a hospital, a Super Wal Mart, a finance/accounting consulting company, a decent hardware store, and a couple of power plants. It’s kind of self sufficient but it’s also slowly turning more into a bedroom community for Baton Rouge.

They’ve gotten a bit tighter on development so it will probably never be super crowded.

Sounds that way. Being able somewhat quickly go to BR for whatever you need and be back home without having to even think about MSR bridge traffic would be nice.

Prices being high should keep a lot of the riff raff out. I bet the parish police do not tolerate much bs either.
