Does anyone have any BUDS stories?

Question for the OT military folks. I’m interested in hearing stories about the most intense military training in the world, the Navy Seals BUDS training. Those of you who participated in this, or know someone who did, what was it really like? What was Hell Week like?

I was going to be a SEAL, but I woulda punched that DI straight in the face, so I stayed home.

the navy seals are way too misogynistic.

There’s an old Discovery Channel documentary on BUDS. It was great and led to the creation of David Goggins.

Hey now. The SAS boys want to have a word with you about that.
If you said the coldest and most sandy then yes. But "most intense"? Not so sure.

Meh Delta Force is for the real men.
You never hear much about them for a reason. Meanwhile every SEAL has to write a book or start a podcast.

Some would say Navy nuke school. To some people ten hours a day of academics is more grueling than ten hours a day of PT.
Such comparisons are pointless. BUDs is hard. A lot of other things are hard. If you want to know how hard, the recruiter will be open bright and early tomorrow morning.

Too bad TigerDave doesn't post anymore. He's probably deep undercover fighting ISIS or in the Ukraine.

I don't think so, BUD.

Hell!!!
A year or so back I was listening to a podcast that had a few former SEALs on it and they got to talking about this dude that had joined the SEALs at like 30something after he had already been a Marine, Recon Marine, and Delta Operator.
Apparently the instructors were hammering his arse during Hell Week and asking what the hell he was doing there. He responded “Oh I just needed a break from the Corps”

Not a seal, but know dudes who washed. From what they’ve said, If you’re young enough (quick recovery time), physically fit, have some grit, and really, really want to be there, you’ve got a shot. Thing is most guys find out they really don’t want to be there after all when getting your junk kicked into the dirt. Being lucky helps as well.
But this isn’t just a seal thing. They just have the best PR. Ask some guys about RIP or the Q-course. It’s all a kick in the nuts and will weed out the guys who don’t really want to be there.
Seals are great and all but if my arse was in a pickle and I could pick the guys to come bail me out, it’s the CAG boys.

The couple of people I've met that went to BUDS wouldn't really talk about it. They would just acknowledge they went and did some training then change the subject.

Sorry.
The Q course, Special Forces Qualification Course is the real deal.
Green berets don't hold a press conference every time they do something.
Army green berets weren't pulled out of conflicts because of poor training and performance.

Once witnessed most of a seal team having their faces drug across non-skid. Seals were relocated to a different ship after that. Semper fricking fi.

Got sucked off by a seal one time at BUDS.

Yes, I trained my arse off before boot camp, went in as a Nuke, was told I could go to BUDS, destroyed the quals, was told I couldn't go because I was in a critically manned rate. Long story short, recruiters suck.

Watch the BUDS Class 234 documentary. It’s 4 hours long and covers every single phase from Indoc through Phase 3. One thing that’s super common among students is SIPE (swimming induced pulmonary edema). Since the students are in cold water for prolonged periods of time, their blood pressure gets so high that the alveoli in their lungs rupture which causes internal bleeding.
