being put on speakerphone! I hate it!

I have a once-a-week phone call with my best friend in another state. She often puts me on speaker and proceeds to empty her dishwasher (those plates clanging together are amplified to the max over the phone) , runs the water (very loud on phone) etc. I finally have to say "whatever you're doing, the noise is painful. Could you take me off speaker please?" GRRRRR
