I've long thought that it can't be good for people to have so much on demand like it is now. There's hardly any waiting for things, people are missing the anticipation of waiting until next week to see their favorite show.
Seems like that would screw with people's internal rewards system. The social aspect has also been screwed with as people watch whenever they feel like it instead of together at the same time. Sports is the exception to this, maybe that's why they're so popular. Altogether it cheapens the intrinsic value of content, leading to an alienated, anomic, and vapid existence void of meaning.
