She initially stood up and walked it off.

No. She didn’t. It was clear from the moment her head bounced and everyone just stood there staring at her that she was hurt. There was an attempt to help drag her to the sideline but she couldn’t do that either. Med staff should have gone directly to her before she was moved at all.

From what I'm hearing from different ATs:

They need to be waved down for something like that. They aren't jumping onto the court every time someone falls. There are a lot of falls in basketball and most of the time they don't get up right away, or don't even make an effort it immediately get up. They'll take a few seconds to get up.

The back of her head bounced off the floor so hard it echoed throughout the arena. It doesn’t take medical training to realize she suffered a head injury.

Did you attend the game? Because I was trying to see what happened to her on tv and I couldn’t tell. Even the announcers said they thought she had hurt her ankle.

watching the video of the injury it looks like it happened on the Ole Miss teams side of the court. Clearly our trainers did not see the fall (maybe they did) and her head hitting the floor. Hell, our own players were right there and didn't see the full fall and her head bouncing against the floor then trying to get her up. Might need a rule change after this that when an injury occurs players must stay down and not be helped or moved. It's easy to blame people but we don't know all the facts. Prayers to Poa.

ETA: upon watching complete sequence after the injury it definitely looked so unorganized and could lead to a lot more issues if it hadn’t just been a concussion. Get your shite together medical staff.

You can literally hear her head hit the floor. And see it bounce off the court. You didn’t have to be at the game to know it’s a head injury. Teammates basically pulled her up to stand and she couldn’t without Angel holding her up.

I thought the response was very slow by both the staff and the arena paramedics. It looked like they didn't know how to operate that stretcher and it wasn't the smoothest transition to place her on the backboard.

Poa leads the nation in charges taken, so if she can't get up, obviously something is wrong.

When she began to stumble, Bumgardner ran out and took over. Immediately stabilized her spine and then put her in a cervical collar and then on a spine board

Eh no.. they literally continued to have her walk even after it was clear that she was stumbling and had jelly legs. She shouldn't have been picked up to begin with, but that was on the other players who helped her up. Once the med staff got there, they should have immediately noticed she was not right and put her back down. Instead they continued to have her walk and eventually put her on the ground. This was embarrassing for that to happen at this level.

This is absolutely spot on. That entire response was terrible.

"She's okay, let her breathe".....

Really bad assessment after a head injury.

I'm thinking that they were expecting her to jump up as they normally do ... they can't run out there at every fall.

Uh, actually they can run out there with every fall. But regardless, this was NOT every fall. The LSU players were going to try to help her up and she didn't even put her arms up. That is NOT every fall. I guess we can rule out that you ever took a medical class. That response was downright incompetent by the medical staff That is a fact...not my opinion BTW!

That woman in the black top must be a home economics major. I agree with your statement that "she's okay" is incredibly ridiculous. Did I miss the concussion protocol test? Did I miss the on the court CT Scan? As far as the LSU players go, they did the right thing. HVL offered her hands but when Poa didn't move her hands to greet them, she pulled back her own. No other LSU player moved to help her up until some "medical staff" came over and must have told them to do it.

Players get a high grade for their actions...the "medical staff" whoever they are get a solid F. And that woman with the black top needs to check on her pies in the oven...she seemed grossly incompetent. Oh, and I don't give a damn who she is BTW.

Since Rules/Officials have allowed basketball to become a full contact sport, maybe headgear should be mandated.
