THAT is the issue with this bill people aren't understanding. Even if there isn't an investor with ties to a enemy state if the feds want to shut it down, they will lie and create a narrative..... We see them do this time and time again.

For all nefarious relationships the US govt has, they will above all else protect their power over the American people.
As has been stated many times, TikTok more or less allows for the unrestricted free flow of information without favoring a certain political party or ideology in how it allows content to be shared and/or viewed.
We can talk about the CCP, spying, data theft, etc... till the cows come home. But the fact of the matter is, our government here in the US wants to control what information we are exposed to. To me, that is more concerning than China "stealing data".
At this point, for me, it's not about the US or China, or even TikTok. It's about the fight for our right to have ALL information available to us, unfiltered and untouched by the powers that be.

Meta is the government mouthpiece in the social media world.
Tiktok is not beholden to the US government.
Meta needs Tiktok to be under the same rules to continue to dominate the social media world. Meta is threatened as long as Tiktok runs without the US Govt thumb on it.

For example, if my wife has TikTok on her phone but I don't, the user agreement allows them access to MY device whether I consent or not.
