Was it when Trump was in office? Back then he was bashed for trying but his base supported it.
What changed other than Biden pushing for the ban and Trump now opposing it? I thought Biden was in bed with China.

Zuckerberg is what changed.
Trump wants them to stop sharing any personal data with foreign governments.

For all nefarious relationships the US govt has, they will above all else protect their power over the American people.
As has been stated many times, TikTok more or less allows for the unrestricted free flow of information without favoring a certain political party or ideology in how it allows content to be shared and/or viewed.
We can talk about the CCP, spying, data theft, etc... till the cows come home. But the fact of the matter is, our government here in the US wants to control what information we are exposed to. To me, that is more concerning than China "stealing data".
At this point, for me, it's not about the US or China, or even TikTok. It's about the fight for our right to have ALL information available to us, unfiltered and untouched by the powers that be.
