This whole "3rd most NBA players per capita" is nonsense.
There are 11 current NBA players born in Louisiana. However, most of them didn't even attend HS in Louisiana.

Kelly Oubre- Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nevada)
Thaddeus Young- Mitchell (Memphis, Tennessee)
Amari Bailey- Sierra Canyon (Los Angeles, California)
De'Aaron Fox- Cypress Lakes (Katy, Texas)
Dexter Dennis- Believe Prep (Athens, Georgia)
Aaron Holiday- Campbell Hall (Los Angeles, California)

Not to mention, most of these guys are scrubs in the NBA. This whole NBA players per capita argument is utter bullshite.

Outside the last couple years which I admit has been meh, teams like Baylor, Houston and even AM have snagged up some very productive players. Let’s not forget Reese beekman at Virginia, and the big boy from challmette is not on that list. And if you think players like Fox and young are scrubs then you have never watched them

Why are we talking about where someone was born? That has little relevance. Where you grew up is more important.

The New Orleans kids:Oubre,Augustin,Fox were ALL Katrina kids that moved to Texas!!

Oubre actually played on an AAU team based in N.O.La

There are at least 5 metro NOLA players @ D-1 schools that will have decent college careers...

As far as immediate help for LSU,the freshman @ SUNO has entered the transfer portal(encouraged by all his coaches)....
He already has D-1 offers including 3 SEC schools....

6'8 Conference Defensive POY,quick, great defender, good footwork finishes in traffic @ the rim, smooth stroke on his jumper with good range....nice handles

Im thinking he averaged 20ppg 14rpg 1 bpg....he did average a double double(my #s may be incorrect).....

All Conference

He will be an immediate difference maker.

Now do born and raised!!!

Thaddeus Sr left for college and pro ball and never lived in New Orleans again..

His son couldnt attend La high school..

Same with Jaren Jackson Jr..He attended school where his dad lived and traveled as a pro athlete...

Lets not act as if droughts dont exist elsewhere...
Everyone wont be a star at all 3 levels but contrary to what fans think; the last man on a NBA bench will destroy the fans that think they are scrubs...

LSU has dropped the ball on many in state kids in every decade starting in the 1970s!!

If the last Final Four team had a true pg to distribute and facilitate easier offense they wouldve won the title!

I know some of these players overlapped but the state had:: Francis Augustin,Paris,Tweety?

All 4 went out of state!!

The city of New Orleans had 2 for sure possibly 3 players that helped Sampson @ U of H start this present run!

Carver HS in NOLA has won 2 of 3 state titles..
Has LSU recruited them since letting Perry McDonald get away to Georgetown??

The top players from the former NOPS have went out of state the last 3 years...

Some talented La kids are being overlooked and/or not seriously recruited until its too late!!

There are no scrubs in the NBA. I'd take virtually any player with an NBA future that wants to play for LSU.
