Shoes will definitely play a factor in forward lean during back squats. Try to find flat soled "zero drop" shoes.
I used to lift in old running shoes, and last year started using a pair of zero drop trail shoes I had bought years ago. Made a big difference, I feel like I can really push through my heels on the way up.
