Thought they added like 10,000 national guards to the subway. We’re the guards too busy posting their whole stuff on TikTok during this event?

Yeah, this was once kind of common sense. Hopefully these people continue working their way out of the gene pool.

Was there over Thanksgiving. Rode the subway everywhere in Manhattan. Felt safe everywhere. Cops all over the place

These incidents seem to happen outside of the tourist areas

Get outta here with that logic!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Governor Kathy Hochul will deploy 750 soldiers from the state's National Guard to help New York City police check commuters' bags in the busiest stations in the city's sprawling subway system, she announced on Wednesday.

Another 250 officers from the New York State Police and the state-controlled Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police will also join the effort, which Hochul said was intended to deter crime. She announced the deployment in response to recent high-profile assaults on commuters and transit workers.

Maybe but I speak to plenty of ppl in the City and they share my views

I didnt feel unsafe at any point while I was there

Cool. Did you talk to the MTA driver that had his throat cut a couple of weeks ago? How about the other two workers that were randomly attacked by subway riders?

Feeling safe soes in no way equate to being safe.

You know who else feels safe? My Cornish Cross meat chickens...right up until I ring their neck.

All those stories about how NY-ers never make eye contact whilst walking on sidewalks or riding in the subway....well, I get it now and don't fault their "avoid conflict" daily routine.

I live in the New York metro area and go into the city frequently. You're a tourist trying to tell me how it is. GTFOH. "Duh, it was safe during the holiday." No shite, Sherlock.

Why would you frequent the city if it was so unsafe

Just stay on Staten Island

Watch this video of the shooting on Reddit: LINK

At a certain point in the video, a woman screams ““Where’s the NYPD police, oh my god!”

This is what happens when you’ve been pussified into thinking that law enforcement will be there to protect you 24/7.

That depends on what train you ride and what neighborhood you travel through among other things.

Yep. Crime rates always drop when they aren't reported or prosecuted.

And that's the slight of hand NYC's idiot pols use.

If they brought back Giuliani's policies, the real crime rate would drop dramatically.

And I kinda figured there's no point arguing with you anymore because you spent a week in the city over the holidays so now you're an expert. Crime is up in NYC, including the subway, where residents and workers are feeling the increase in violent crime. It's enough of a concern that the governor and mayor have deployed the National Guard on the trains and in the stations. Just because you had a good time in Manhattan last year doesn't make that untrue.
