Selection Sunday got me thinking what is the best sports day of the year?

I’m not sure the answer but it’s not Daytona. If you’re into racing they have the greatest day in racing that is the Indy 500, Coca Cola 600 and (normally) Monaco

Stretch of days, or full weekend, is unquestionably first 2 rounds of March madness.
Single day is tougher and im inclined to say Thanksgiving.
Twenty plus years ago I would've said Jan 1 for college bowls, but that's been diluted and isn't even a blip on the radar since the various format changes.

When the first round of the NFL draft was all day on a Saturday, you could post up at a sports bar and watch the draft, NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs and a MLB game over the course of several hours.

I like labor day weekend. College football, US open tennis final, start of NFL, usually a big boxing match, and European soccer starting up.

I like those weekends in the late fall when the baseball pennants/World Series overlap with crunch time for NFL and CFB. Plus NBA and NHL are just getting started and racing leagues are in the home stretch.

You’re certainly not wrong by my only argument against this is the first CFB saturday always falls on Labor Day weekend. So it is essentially the last weekend of summer and there are always conflicts. The next week (college and NFL) is essentially the full start of fall/football season.
