I tend to agree that eating 4000 calories of “healthy food” in a day would be extremely hard to do by accident, meaning I tend to agree with his claims.

If we imagine someone who doesn’t work out but daily eats 4000 calories, I think it’s safe to say those aren’t healthy calories, meaning I think it’s a lot of carbs and fat with relatively little protein.

Since protein is more satiating than other macros, we can at least say that the person would feel more full all day, even at a lower caloric intake, when they eat healthy. So it makes sense to me that, everything else equal, if a person switched from a crap diet to a healthy diet, they would tend to lose weight without counting calories.

The 4000 was hyperbolic

Let's say your TDEE is 2100 calories

You could very easily eat in excess of that eating healthy foods
