re: Driving with the Family to California, which route and other suggestions?

Drove LA to L.A. via the 10 many times and the last one was my favorite. 85% night driving. Blew through all the big cities and didn’t have to see any of west Texas. One stop for a quick nap in El Paso and then when the sun went down I hit the road again. Sun was rising in my rear view mirror as I crossed the CA line. Whole trip took about 36 hours. I vowed never to make that drive again. That was about 10 years ago.
