I don’t have any substance issues but I’ve been in multiple mental health treatment programs and by far the most interesting part is learning about other people’s struggles. No one is immune.

Not gonna say where.

understandable.... I went to Whispering Oaks.... there, they never restricted your computer or phone access... just had to leave it outside of the group area room.... but i had my computer and phone with me the entire time, from day one.... really cool place, considering it was rehab

That Old Bottle D'jinn

Well that old bottle D'jinn,
Whispers "where have you been"
The hiss slips through his saccharine smile,
"Well I thought we were friends,
Why don't you let me in,
Just for old times sake, just for a while..."

I'd spent decades of days,
Getting lost in that haze,
And it cost me a wealth and a wife,
Just a coin at a time,
Nearly lost me my mind,
And the toll would have cost me my life,

Yeah that D'jinn's mighty sly,
Much more clever than I,
And for certain, for sure had me fooled,
That I was in control,
All while losing my soul,
Thought myself free, man, but I was ruled,

Little more every day,
Til he'd take all my pay,
Swore I needed him just to get by,
That false heaven I'd feel,
But those visions weren't real,
Every truth that he sold was a lie,

Well I'd try to escape,
But when you play the tape,
It's the same endless spiral my friend,
Cause when I would get low,
D'jinn would whisper "fellow,
You know I'll bring you high once again."

And he'd grant me those wishes,
Sickly sweet but so vicious,
But they'd never last long past the dawn,
And that D'jinn he would grin,
As he savored my sin,
Laughing as I sailed towards too far gone,

But the voice of a brother,
And the love of those others,
Kept me fighting while trying to drown,
And I gave up control,
My last night in that hole,
When I put the last D'jinn bottle down,

Well the way up was steep,
And that hole was so deep,
That damn D'jinn smirked, I'd fall like before,
I was out of my head,
But I climbed 'til I bled,
Each day farther away than before,

Was it weeks,? Was it days?
Finally got past the haze,
And the darkest clouds started to clear,
Dear friends threw me a rope,
So I clung on to hope,
Rising out the hole, done with the fear,

Now it's struggle and strife,
C'est la vie, such is life,
But it's life truly free and it's mine,
After all that it cost,
And the decades I lost,
What I've got now tastes sweeter than wine,

My tale's hardly my own,
I know I'm not alone,
Different paths, but the walk's much the same,
For it's no life at all,
To be any D'jinn's thrall,
Tell you friend, there's no winning that game,

Now the D'jinn's always lurking,
Still whispering, smirking,
Yes he knows your every defense,
Finding you when you're low,
The lie lingers, "you know,
Old Reliable's always your friend."

Well if that night's tonight,
Just don't give up the fight,
Darkness never lasts long, past the dawn,
Call a friend, read a book,
Think of all that he took,
And keep walking the road that you're on,

'Cause you've got this you see,
I got you, you get me?
I've got faith you can hold through the night,
And that D'jinn? He ain't shite,
Leave him down in the pit,
Find the light, and don't give up the fight.
