It really is ridiculous, even for native species. Non-native antivenom is even higher, despite the fact that we have plenty of antivenom manufacturing in the states. What may cost thousands or even tens of thousands a vial here costs tens of dollars overseas....same antivenom, same manufacturer.

Canebrake rattlers are fairly common in Louisiana, and they're deadly. The even more dangerous Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake may be now extinct in the state.
