Social Security can’t be fixed. There was a time in this country when people actually moved their parents in and took care of them when they retired. There was also a time when we had sound money and people could afford to save for retirement.

Social Security is dead broke. There was never a trust fund, it all goes into the general funds to be spent by the Treasury. Adjusting for inflation, people are getting ripped off massively when they collect their checks. And future generations won’t see a penny. It is a tax and nothing more.

They killed the family unit, so this one is going to leave a mark when it finally collapses

None of this is true

* SS is actually more sound today than ever
quote:

As in last year's report, the DI Trust Fund is projected to be able to pay full benefits through the end of the 75-year projection period (2097 in this year's report).

* The money doesnt go into the general fund
quote:

The Social Security Trust Fund was created in 1939 as part of the Amendments enacted in that year. From its inception, the Trust Fund has always worked the same way. The Social Security Trust Fund has never been "put into the general fund of the government."

* Ending SS doesnt solve the debt crisis. Once SS goes away, the money taken from your paycheck will no longer be collected, and will not be used to pay down debt

* I've heard that future generations won’t see a penny since 1980. And yet he we are going on 3 generations later, still receiving full benefits
