See, that's one of those things you realize when you get older, but when you're young, it seems daunting to go to shows on your own. God, there were so many great shows I missed when I was in college because none of my close friends were interested in going. I still regret not seeing Sonic Youth/Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Pearl Jam/Smashing Pumpkins/Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lollapalooza 1992. You get older, you realize you can go have a few drinks and see a band by yourself.

True, but to be fair, you're also a lot less likely to have people screwing with you or trying to start a fight once you're out of your teens/earl 20's and start to look "old." And you can probably have a couple drinks without getting wasted. All in all, safety in numbers becomes less important.
