Why is the USPS allowed to continue to operate at a loss each and every year?

The only reason that I can think of is that documents are legal through the mail

And no government is ever trimmed

It's just a social service at this point. Supplemented by the federal govt. They are wholly inept at managing an actual business which is what it's supposed to be. So this is what we get.

In Biden math, that's excellent!

It is really strange how much certain people treat usps as some sort of sacred national good/source of national pride

It’s an antiquated vestigial structure, and it’s original purpose was to be a source of revenue for govt

It's basically a jobs program/wealth redistribution scheme at this point.

They are the first line of mail-in ballot fraud.

It's never made any sense that it's funded by the federal government and run mostly like a government organization (not allowed to do cost cutting measures) but they're expected to operate at a profit.

USPS can never be self sufficient. Deliver every day to every location in the US, no matter how remote.Retirement must be fully funded. If you say, give it to UPS or FedEx, they don't not have the infrastructure. Also, those two, along with Amazon are the USPS' largest customers.

The Congress shall have Power...To establish Post Offices and post Roads

It's one of the few enumerated powers of the federal government.

The post office is in the constitution. You'd have to change the constitution to get rid of the post office.

It's a government agency. Do you think the US Court system turns a profit? Does wildlife and fisheries turn a profit? Nobody would even ask those questions because it sounds too silly. the USPS is really no different.

Because it's a service, not a business.

Why is the military allowed to continue to operate at a loss each and every year?

Why is the fire department allowed to continue to operate at a loss each and every year?

Because they're not businesses, they're public services.

Our USPS mail lady bitches if there is one inch of snow in front of our mailbox and she has a 4x4 vehicle. The UPS guy says frick it and drives all the way up our 1/2 mile driveway regardless of how much snow and never complains and his rig is 2 wheel drive.

Why is the USPS, one of the few agencies specifically created by Article 8 Section 1 of the Constitution, required to operate at a profit? Does the Department of Education create a profit, or provide a service that every American can utilize at their convenience every day?

Granted, it could be more efficient.

I guess I wasn't just lucky that the package I mailed recently was $13 with USPS and $35 with the other carriers.

How can they fudge mail in ballots if they aren't on the payroll?
