This looks like a raid on an al qaeda bunker. I don't know the specifics of this raid, but why was so much firepower needed?

They used a drone in the house

Because they have all the toys and training, but rarely get to use it. So they go overkill when they can and "justify" it as showing the force of the US Government as a deterrent. They don't really care that it makes them look ridiculous. It's an opportunity to play commando in a 1st world country

We can pay for this but we can't pay higher salaries that are more likely to entice non-morons to become cops. Nice.

Nah. The ROE on a military raid are too tight to go in this hard anymore.

Some terrorist’s feelings may be hurt or some camel jockey may get offended.
