It’s truly sad what our education system has churned out
Its reflected in our voting patterns. This is why we are where we are.

Same article says In n Out barely increased prices, and others, including Cik-fil-a didn't. What is happening there?

Based on a picture from either this thread or another, it looks like they went up 10%. Not sure that's barely.

Does only the CEO make millions? Or do the 10 VPs and presidents and board members and other executives also make millions each?

Labor went up 20-30% so they cut the hours by 20-30%

How much are they allowed to make?

McDonald’s pays competitive rates for their execs.
What do you think they should be paid?

There it is....next mantra will be maximum wage requirements.
You can only make X amount.

Combined you could probably fire every one. Those vp’s and presidents and board members and it would raise people’s pay by around $200/year, or <$4/week assuming you work 52 weeks.
Look, I agree that the discrepancy between CEO and the median salaries has ballooned to preposterous levels in my opinion, but that’s not going to help. Corporations (meaning public ally owned and controlled businesses) see the profits and cannot accept prolonged decreases in profitability and profit.
The stock market won’t accept it nor will banks nor any other financial institution.

This is every minimum wage debate in history.
The supporters are always defeated by reductio ad absurdum: "If we really want to help people - why stop at $20/hr? Why not $50/hr or $100/hr?
Furthermore, if government is so good at setting wages, why stop at fast food workers? Why not have them set the wages for everyone?"

From the NYPost article. Much less than 10%. So what is different with them? Maybe they already paid their staff well. Them and CFA are known for good pay and happy employees.

You think those companies didn't make some changes that will be very noticeable at some point?
Posted on 4/3/24 at 3:09 pm to Smeg
They need to raise it more so people can afford the fast food. Easy fix

Well there you go. Why don't the other workers go there? Couldn't' be because they wouldn't get hired, right?
They also may be choosing to do several small increases instead of one large one.

quote:That does not defeat them. These min wage increase supporters are ostensibly setting the bar roundabout the cost of living. The pay level below which a person working full time would still be a burden on the welfare/entitlement system (taxpayers). Why shouldn't that cost, the cost of the employee surviving to work another day, be borne by the employer?

Because it will just be passed on to the consumer regardless. You liberals live in a fantasy land where businesses won't pass on costs to teh consumer. My taxes will not go down if these loser workers get paid more, and I will have to pay more on top of it.
Who would support that deal?

Is that a serious question?

No one could have possibly foreseen the price increase coming at the same time as a wage increase! How could anyone have predicted such a random sequence of evens?
Tell me about it! The poors here in florida voted to have minimum wage at 15.00 by 2025 a few years back. Had they known inflation would be thru the roof by 2024 dont think it would have passed. They will be making 15.00 an hour but the cost of groceries and eating out will be higher so they will still be poor.

If society agrees that a full time worker deserves some sort of bare minimum standard of living, then society should collectively pay for that via welfare, EITC, universal basic income, etc.
Why do you think employers should be mandated to pay more than the what the employee produces?

Because its completely arbitrary and not quantifiable. If Karen chooses to blow her money on accessories and vodka thats on her.
