No phones for baseball players

At his radio show, CJJ announced that “team won’t have any cell phones around the field or in the locker room”. It is sad that it has come to the point to tell the grown adults they can’t use their phones at the facility. I guess when it gets this bad we have to treat them like a travel ball team.

Were some of the players posting on TD during the game?

I wish that was the only issue with this team.
Minimal effect if any on this week's games.

I take it that this is a response to gambling?
To clarify, I mean in an effort to remove the risk of using gambling apps. Not because they were gambling.

My read on it is that Johnson is pissed about the losing and he's even more pissed the players don't seem as upset about it as he thinks they should be. I don't think it is a "punishment" akin to taking the phone away from a petulant teenager. It's more in the form of "you guys don't have a cell phone to distract you from focusing 100% on doing what is necessary to get better. So there is no reason you aren't out there putting in the work to do so".
No cell phones also forces the players to interact with one another, which obviously can lead to becoming a closer and more accountable team. At the risk of starting an exhausting and fruitlessly unnecessary argument, during the McNeese v. Gonzaga basketball game the announcers, when discussing McNeese's remarkable turnaround, told the story about how Wade takes away the players' cell phones during team meals and extracurricular events. Thus, forcing the players interact with and get to better know their teammates. That was particularly important when many of the players were new to the school/team as transfers.
I think what you might have with this baseball team is veteran players who already have a championship ring so the drive for another may not be as strong. You have young players who are inexperienced and immature. You then have several transfers who are "outsiders" and don't quite feel 100% comfortable with their new school/teammates. Juxtapose that with last year's team with most of the key players being guys who had been together for 3, 4, 5 years.

Good, should’ve already been a rule

Obviously it’s only expert coaches that post here.

The punishment would be a lot more severe than just "no phones" if that were the case.

That should teach then!

More of a focus thing. Guys were on their phones before and after the game. He prob came in after the game Monday and some were already on their phones. I like it.

Or treated like they're all attending the Masters next week with their phone ban.

Didn't mean they were gambling, just removing the risk of using apps like Kayshon did.

I like it. I’ve never been employed anywhere personal phones were ok to have while on the job site. Years ago it was strictly enforced. Now days it more lenient. But younger guys will get slap mad when you tell them to chill out playing on your phone. They’ll say things like “I pay this bill. When you start paying it you can tell me what to do”. They don’t seem to understand it’s our employer that makes the rule, we have tons of cameras, and I’ve seen several employees escorted off site over a fricking cell phone. Now, I’ve always had mine, but practice the outta sight, outta mind rule. I can’t tell you how many times a shift I have someone walk up to me “look at this Tic Tok, look at this FB post, ect”. I don’t freaking care man, go do something…

No cell phones supposed to turn LSU team around?? Lordy! Lost last 7 games and now….???? A snort of coke might liven them up a tat but no phones?? JJ is desperate! Might could get one those Catholic priest to come to locker room and practice a little exorcism to drive out the demons!
Posted on 4/3/24 at 4:30 pm to Clearlake
Well what’s it gonna be: Mexican Muscle Dust for the players or Demon exorcism??? You can have one or the other but you can’t have both.
