To get into the NCAA Tournament field, SEC teams can target 14 conference wins. Teams have gotten in with less, but it’s a dicier proposition and typically requires at least one win in the SEC Tournament. That would mean going 12-9 the rest of the way, which should be entirely doable for a team of LSU’s talent. To host, LSU would likely need at least 16 SEC wins (or 15 and an SEC Tournament run). That would mean going 14-7 the rest of the way, which isn’t out of the question, but would also mean it probably can only lose one more series.

Just as long as we make the postseason. It would suck to follow the same path as state and ole piss

With how ridiculous the SEC is this season, I think 13-17 definitely gets someone in, so long as their RPI is decent (not like #48) and/or they dont blow so many mid-week games, like, you know, to Southern

The good news is we are 18-3 OOC so that gives us more margin in conference play to go the 13-17 and still make the NCAAT

The SEC will likely get 8 or 9 teams in the 64-team field.

At this juncture, Arky, A&M, UF, Vandy, and UTenn are likely in. That means we're playing against the remaining 8 teams for the remaining 3 or 4 spots.

There is a chance it could match the most ever sent by SEC of 10 teams. You're leaving out a Kentucky team that has only lost 1 game

I don't disagree. Just that the selection committee will get 'SEC fatigue' after some point. So unless there's little separating say teams 8 thru 10, and a lot separating 10 from 11, it's a really risky proposition to think we'll make it in at #10 in the SEC.

We'll go 2 and 2 in the SEC tournament and finish 40-20.

I feel bad for the 1-seed in that regional if LSU comes in as a 2 or 3.

The D1 baseball midseason podcast made some good points. Big 12 and Pac 12 are way down, all the talent is coming into the SEC. The selection committee is going to have to start making adjustments at how they pick SEC teams. 13 wins might be the new automatic bid now. The conference is just so far ahead of the rest of the country when it comes to depth, and shouldn't be punished for it.
