So cool. Why the hell did they only have cartoons on Saturday? It’s like they were ignoring the young kid market demo.
I recall later on maybe mid 80s, there was 1 or 2 public channels that ran some cartoons and kid shows or sitcoms in the 3-5pm timeframe.

We had 1fat kid in the entire 8th grade in 1978. 1...and the beach was devoid of fat, tattooed parents as well.

The music was incredible and so diverse that I don’t think any genre was left out, that’s what I remember most, and all the burning reefer too!

We had a renter in a house I grew in 70/80s. I had to go over the other day because she passed. There is still a “V” shape exciting the front yard that is where I would ride my bike down onto the street.

I remember when I ate a bowl of Wheaties on Saturday morning before watching cartoons. Bruce Jenner was on the box. That was back when he was a male and had won the Olympic Decathlon in 1976

We had aluminum foil flags on the TV’s rabbit ears. Occasionally while watching one of the 3 channels available, somebody in the family would have to hold their hands up to get a clear picture. And we’d rotate that responsibility as arms got tired.

Yes, I remember all of those- and many others.
The part about the neighborhoods being patrolled by those who lived there was very true. The fathers (all of whom were around) were of the WW2 generation, with most being veterans. They didn't take kindly to those up to no good. Every kid knew every house was an armed emergency shelter, in case something bad ever did happen. At least that's how it was in my old neighborhood.....

I can remember when we first got cable and HBO first came to it. If you took a short length of antenna wrapped it in foil hooked it to the uhf on the TV it would come in.

Who grew up with a drawer in the kitchen solely for cigarettes and when going on a trip your parents carried some sort of portable bar that fit in a box type suitcase. Good times.

Born in 1965 so this was my era. I remember when clackers were outlawed. I believe it was Nixon. And one of the reason we weren't so fat back then is there wasn't fast food restaurants on every corner. It was a treat to go to McDonald's or Burger King, not a daily thing.
GI Joe, black lights and going to Spencer's in the mall and looking at the posters hoping they had the Farrah one so you could see, well you know what it was.
It was truly the best time to grow up and I feel bad for all of those who didn't get to experience it
