and what's the easiest way to move to ot. Can you just overseed? Or should you nuke then seed.

It depends on the variety. Some love full sun, some do very well in shade, etc

I have Empire Zoysia in full sun and it grows great! It's been slowly coming around this spring but I waited until last week to fertilize and it's greening up nicely.
