Well, since the"podcasting legend" has changed his Egostat up to 11, does anyone else have some useful advice?

We use Shure MV7x mics that go through a Zoom H6 (I might recommend a RodeCaster or something like that though… we just happened to have the Zoom already). The mics and Panasonic Lumix cameras go into an ATEM Mini Pro. Nice to have a Mac to run with the ATEM. We use Audacity for the post editing. From there, we use PodBean to send to all the major services (Spotify, Apple, etc). We also upload video to YouTube and FB. And yes, you could probably go live straight from this setup. Haven’t done that though.

I did one for a while. It’s fun, but can be a lot of work. You don’t need a ton of equipment, but good mics are key. If you think you’ll be the next Joe Rogan, you’ll be very disappointed. It’s a fun way to have conversations and engage with people, but if you don’t already have a big following on another platform, it’s hard to make an audience and create any meaningful revenue. The only real reason I stopped was because of the time commitment. Besides that, it was fun, and I got some recognition in our little niche world from it when we traveled for events and stuff.

I used a Zoom podtrac P8 to record into. Handled multiple mics and a phone call. Edited with Audacity on a Chromebook. As said it's a lot more time than you think. I just edited for noise reduction from an AC and such. Occasionally content. The recording and BS'n with friends telling stories was fun. Need to start it back up. We just did audio but recorded it off a Skype type deal a couple times for phone guests.

Yea i quit my job and started a podcast last month. We already are projected to be making hundreds of thousands of dollars in just a few short years once we get a few more key investments. It takes money to make money once you get your ducks in a row with a clear game changer worth circling back for after a few top down pivots.
